Scanner Darkly

Scanner DarklyOh, how exciting! I sooo missed this when it was in the theatres the first time around. What a sick little book this is....worth every penny for the 1st edition hardcover I own. So twisted.

And, do not miss the art in this photo here. This movie is only the second one made with 'roto-shop,' a brilliant software solution that 'tweens' frames while between 'roto-scoped' images. This creates a disturbingly strange look in a cartoon. This is the same process used in Waking Life, another winner.

I have been sad to see this tech showing up in Insurance ads. I believe it is the presentation media of the future....personally. Anyways...

Come out and see.....

A SCANNER DARKLY

A mind-bending animated sci-fi thriller from the director of SLACKER

Fri October 27
7:00 only

Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. star in Richard Linklater's druggy and dystopian adaptation of a Philip K. Dick (BLADERUNNER) novel, a masterpiece from 1977 about an undercover narcotics officer. Linklater uses the rotoscoping technologies he pioneered in WAKING LIFE here to full effect, and also delivers the most studiously faithful adaption of any Philip K. Dick work to date.
